Local waste into sustainable protein and soil products through community-powered, nature-based systems and value-added economic upliftment
Our Mission
Phase 1: Victoria Falls (Zim)
Victoria Falls faces growing waste management issues, with landfills overflowing and wildlife, including elephants, ingesting harmful plastics. A Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae facility could address these problems by converting organic waste into valuable protein and frass, reducing landfill waste and plastic contamination.
Partnering with existing local players will enhance waste collection efforts, while the BSF facility creates economic opportunities through job creation and sustainable waste management, fostering environmental and community upliftment.
Phase 2: Western Cape (SA)
The small farming towns of the Western Cape are ideal for launching a BSF larvae facility due to their warm climate, abundant agricultural waste, and high local unemployment.
These regions offer a reliable supply of organic waste while also needing sustainable job creation and community upliftment. Kitchen waste streams are not formally captured for separation and processing. A BSF facility can convert waste into valuable protein and fertilizer, supporting a decentralized, scalable model that aligns with South Africa’s push for green, inclusive development.
The Common Problem/s
Southern Africa struggles with growing organic and plastic waste due to urbanization and poor infrastructure. Organic waste fills landfills, while plastic pollutes ecosystems. The lack of recycling and waste reduction worsens pollution and hampers sustainable development. Innovative, community-driven solutions are needed for effective waste management.
The Problem
Inefficient Waste Management
Towns like Victoria Falls generate significant organic waste with inadequate separation systems.
Protein problems
Livestock and aquaculture industries need sustainable local feed alternatives.
Invasive Species Threat
Non-native trees damage local ecosystems but remain under-utilized.
Agricultural Challenges
Local farms struggle with soil fertility and sustainable inputs.
WORKING TOGETHER
Business Model & Strategy
01
Organic Waste Collection
Deploy segregated bins at hotels and restaurants. Partner with municipality for efficient collection.
02
BSF Larvae Production
Convert waste into protein-rich larvae for animal feed markets.
03
Frass Commercialization
Sell BSF byproducts as premium organic fertilizer to local farmers.
04
Biochar Production
Process invasive trees into biochar for soil enhancement and off-grid energy production.
The plan for Vic Falls
Around the globe, a disturbing trend is emerging at landfill sites: wildlife are ingesting vast amounts of plastic, leading to a condition known as 'Plasticosis'. At Victoria Falls, elephants have made headlines due to frenzied charges, unusual aggression, and tragic deaths linked to this phenomenon. Yet, there is hope—remarkable initiatives are fighting the plastic menace. Elephants and other wildlife continue to wander the dumps, following the scent of food, which underscores the urgent need to transform organic waste into value.
Revolve is committed to addressing this challenge. We plan to convert organic waste into valuable protein for local fish farms, create jobs, and eliminate organic waste from source to dumpsite.
We extend our sincere gratitude to The Pristine Victoria Falls Society and Ele Collection for their warm welcome into the waste world of Victoria Falls town. We are excited to roll up our sleeves and collaborate with you on this transformative journey.
